Bugs and Other Issues

Introduction

This page lists any bugs in Opera I've found. Most of them link to test pages which have been stripped back to the bare essentials - they don't have my usual site 'look'.

Where known, bug numbers for the Opera bug tracking system are given.

CSS

• Screen styles applied to the body element are incorrectly applied when printing. (#forgotten, but I have been told #126732 is outstanding on this issue)
• Collapsed table borders are rendered inconsistently compared to IE and Gecko (#forgotten)
• Dynamically setting an image for list bullets fails (#139444)
• Dynamically changing table cell borders are rendered incorrectly when the table element itself has a border (#139941)
• Fixed positioning combined with a z-index results in the page becoming much taller than it should be, with a lot of extra empty space (#143292)
• Opening tags of nested forms are ignored (#143308)
• CSS Positioning Bug - A weird one where multiple absolutely positioned elements inside relatively positioned ones are incorrectly positioned, except for the first one. (#156776)
• Medium font size not always identical to unstyled (#161031)
• Cell border bug - Borders corresponding to some table cells are drawn over the content of other cells (#202724)

HTML

• <marquee> scrolldelay and truespeed attribute values are not implemented correctly (#124731)

UI

• Quick find drop-down context menu is not appropriate (should not display) (#165319)

Other

• Form option values not correctly retrieved (#134892)
• Java MIME Types not reliably reported (#148560)
• onContextMenu not supported (#165310)
• window.onload is aliased to document.onload, which has caused a problem in a page where the document.onload handler had assumed the window.onload handler had already run (#166183)
• XMLHttpRequest.send(null) does not work for POST requests (#202702)

Personal Wishlist

• All the above bugs fixed!
• Fix the iframe "always on top" issue.
• Save web pages:
  • in MHTML format (RFC 2557 - MIME Encapsulation of Aggregate Documents, such as HTML (MHTML)).
  • in such a way as to use the built-in MS-Windows association between filename.html and filename_files. The web page is saved in the html file, any files it needs or references are stored in the corresponding _files folder.
• Undetectable document.all support. Effect can be achieved via user js.
• Full support for CSS2.1 and any modules of CSS3 that are at least Candidate Recommendations (currently Selectors, Color, Text, Ruby, Paged, UI, and Media).
• That full-screen surfing to sites with no projection styles falls back to screen styles instead of no styles.
