User Javascript

Introduction

With version 8 of their browser, Opera Software added a new feature called User Javascript. It allows you to nominate a folder of script files that are to be run for every page you visit.

My Scripts

• fixoperacloak.js - Enhances Opera's built-in cloaking functionality, and provides fixes to some bugs. Works in combination with Opera's ua.ini file. The Mozilla related cloaking code has been removed from this and put into the separate mozcloak.js script, see next script.
• mozcloak.js - Adds some Mozilla Javascript properties that some scripts look for in Mozilla browsers (Firefox, Seamonkey). Only active when Opera is set to identify as Mozilla.
• alt2title.js - Converts image alt attributes to title attributes, except where the image already has a title attribute. Improves the display of image tooltips on some sites.
• improved_tooltips.js - Improves the display of tooltips on some sites, particularly web forums. Obsolete: Opera 9 has this built-in now!
• menufix.js (v1.8) - Scans web pages looking for buggy or out-of-date menu scripts. If a problem is detected, a fix is attempted and a small pop-up is shown at the bottom right. Not all menu problems are able to be fixed. It's also possible (but unlikely) that this script could mess up a site. IMPORTANT NOTE: This script is now part of the browser.js file that Opera includes with version 8.5 of their browser. Don't use both at once - delete mine and rely on Opera's version.
• dingbats.js - Automatically translates dingbat characters into their Unicode equivalents (so text smileys work, etc). Very incomplete at the moment.
• qnap-downloadfix.js - Applies some corrections to the Qdownload application of QNAP NAS devices to allow use in Opera. Mouse clicks DO NOT WORK in the list to select items. Click the list, then use up/down arrows to select items. This has been fixed in v2.1.2 firmware.
